Mangalore, May 16: The Dakshina Kannada policemen have claimed to have achieved major progress in the case relating to the murder of advocate Naushad Kashimji, with the arrest of Rakesh Patel (30) from Bangalore, Rahul (21) and Ravi Shukvani (28) both from Chandani Chowk, New Delhi, all of whom are said to be the Hawala agents. They reportedly paid five lac rupees for eliminating Kashimji, to the killers.
Giving this information at a press conference held here on Friday May 16, district superintendent of police Dr A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao said, the arrests were made based on the information the policemen were able to lay hands on, while interrogating Dinesh Shetty, one of the accused in the case.
Rao said, Shetty had confessed to having received a sum of five lac rupees from Patel under the instructions of underworld don Ravi Poojary. The money was given to Shetty after verifying a currency note, the number of which was used as an identity, he said. Patel is a native of Karna, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, who functions from Nagart Pet in Bangalore, the SP revealed. Rao also claimed, the money so paid was black money, generated through Hawala transaction. Hawala network facilitates transfer of money where bills are not being issued, to avoid tax, he added.
