Doha, Jun 23: Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA), Doha - Qatar re-elected president and vice-president for the term 2019-2021 during its 11th annual general body meeting.
MCA, Doha held AGM at Ashoka Hall, Indian Cultural Center, Doha on June 20.
Carol D’Souza, emcee for the evening welcomed the gathering and invited the members to sing the MCA geeth. She then gave a brief about the association and its activities.
The advisory members in attendance were Felix Lobo and Jerry Pinto, who were invited to the dais along with president Veena Rebimbus Pais, vice president Clement Saldanha, and general secretary Hema Fernandes.
President Veena welcomed the gathered, and addressed the members with a heart full of gratitude for their continued support and dedicated efforts by involving in MCA’s every programme.

Konkani Bashan Spordo and Quiz competition on 30 August at ICC’s Ashoka Hall
Monthi Fest celebration on Thursday, 26 September at ICCs Ashoka Hall
Annual Event on 18 October - Venue to be announced later
Sports day on 15 November - Venue to be announced later

General secretary Hema Fernandes then presented the annual report for the year 2018-2019. This was duly accepted by the members and was approved by the president and advisories. In the absence of the treasurer Jason Quadros, the vice president Clement Saldanha presented the financial report for the year 2018 - 2019, which was accepted by the members and was approved by the president and advisories.
Just before the election the president called all the executive members on stage and thanked them wholeheartedly for their remarkable contribution during the term of 2017-2019. Later she dissolved the committee making way for a new committee for the coming 2 years 2019-2021.
Harry Lobo, the first president of MCA, conducted the elections for president and vice president of the term 2019–2021. He read the criteria for selection. The advisory members suggested the current president continue for the next term and this suggestion was accepted by the people in the audience. The members suggested the same for the vice president.
On Behalf of all members, past president Arthur Pais congratulated reelected vice president Clement Saldanha and Stephany Lobo congratulated president Veena with flowers.
Veena thanked everyone for selecting her again and requested the members support.
The president and vice president will form a new executive committee for the next term which will be announced soon.
Advisory member Felix Lobo addressed the audience and his heartfelt words touched them. He mentioned the that the very reason to start this organization was in the intention of helping people and making a difference in their life while following the footsteps of Mother Theresa.
Cultural programmes were put forward by the talented members of the MCA.
GVOM – 6 winner Clement Fernandes, Carol D’Souza, Neil D’Silva and Arvin Pais entertained the audience with solo and duet numbers.
Rising Stars of MCA Waylon Mendonca and Viola Monteiro surprised the audience with their sonorous solo singing.
Tiny Tots Rishon Fernandes, Ethan D’Souza, Angelina D’Souza, Ruben Fernandes and Raizal Lasrado danced to the song Galipata.
MCA’s members and St. Cecilia’s Choir group members - Melita Lobo, Prameela Monteiro, Veronica Baretto, Prival Ferrao, Jovita Pereira, Jeevan Ferrao, Praveen Lobo, Sean Fernandes, Ullas D’Souza, Jason D’Dias, Wilson Mendonca and Neil D’silva Harmoniously sang a group song.
Doha Dancing Squad Sean Fernandes, Arvin Pais, Jeevan Ferrao, Andrea D’Souza, Melita Lobo, Prival Ferrao performed scintillating dances to the thunderous applause of the audience. Dances were choreographed by Vijaya D’Souza and Sean Fernandes.
Clement Fernandes, George Menezes, Neil D’Silva, Merlyn D’Souza and Hema Fernandes performed some comedy skits and entertained the audience.
Jovita Pereira proposed the vote of thanks. Della Rego prayed the grace before meals. Carol D’Souza conducted fun- filled and exciting spot games where everyone participated with full zest.
The entire evening was brilliantly compered by Carol D’Souza.
Scrumptious dinner was enjoyed by all as one big family.
The programme ended at 10pm, around 130 members were present.
