Chikkaballapur: Conmen offer lottery lure - Rob poor woman of Rs 3 lac

Daijiworld Media Network - Chikkaballapur (SP)

Chikkaballapur, Jun 21: Although the media is bringing out stories about gullible people being cheated by people posing as bank employees or government servants regularly, the common people do not seem to be taking serious notice of them. Because, in an incident which happened in the town, a gang which contacted an innocent woman succeeded in fleecing her of three lac rupees after convincing her that she had won a lottery amount of Rs 25 lac.

The woman who was taken for a ride happens to be Shameen from Gauribidanur taluk in the district. Shameen, who ekes out a living by working as domestic servant, was trapped by a call made by the gang on June 11. The call was purportedly made by unknown people from Kolkata.

The callers won over Shameen's confidence through their sweet talk and made her believe that she had actually won a lottery prize of Rs 25 lac. They used to call her often and totally succeeded in coaxing her to part with a total sum of three lac rupees. After she again got call today seeking further remittance, Shameen grew suspicious. She went to Gauribidanur police station for advice where she learnt that she had been divested of her money by a gang of cheaters. The callers used documents bearing photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to win over her confidence. They also sent to the woman a video which showed another woman getting money in lottery. They also made her believe by presenting document showing money having been transferred to the account of the other woman.

The woman has been working hard over the last several years as domestic servant. She had saved her hard-earned money for the future of, and performing marriage of her grown up children. The ornaments and cash she had carefully and painstakingly put together have now become the assets of unknown people. The police have sincerely requested people not to fall prey for such tactics blindly.

"Nothing is free in this world"

One thing people should now or atleast learn,
I am working in my life from last 30 years 5 years in Mumbai and from 1993 onwards last 25 years in gulf. What I learnt is "Nothing is free in this world" unless some charity work on humanitarian grounds.
My sincere advice again for all nobody give anything free just calling you won something and to get that you pay this much.

This so called poor woman, before investing Rs. 3 lac with fake lottery, should have consulted few people including her own community. This might have saved her from loosing this very big amount of Rs, 3 lac.

None of the readers are mentioning any remedy to correct the situation other than giving talking about the naivety of the women and feeling sorry for her being conned. The police should trace the bank account where the money was transferred and catch the culprits. That's the simple solution. With or without adhaar card, there is a link - the bank account to catch the conmen.

Absolutely true. Now everything can be traced. Since its a bank transfer there should definitely be a owner and his address. Go and get him.

Greed, easy money, get rich instantly, has led to a devastating downfall, of many individuals in our nation.... The IMA episode, by Mansoor Khan, is a testimony of another fraud, on foolish investors !!!!! These fraudsters will continue to reap a bountiful harvest, as long as individuals continue to be dumb, stupid, buffoons !!!!!

When govt insisted to link Aadhaar to bank accounts the so called intellectuals protested. Its easy to open an account with some duplicate IDs. Aadhaar is an authentic ID and cant be duplicated easily. Now its very difficult to catch the culprits.

The Gujju-bhai too offered Rs 15 lakh lottery to every Indian.

That may be the reason he is in the photo with the other conmen, offering 25 lakhs WITHOUT the need to buy a lottery ticket.

Jaisa raja thaisa other conmen in the country.

    Mangalurian
This is the fate of minorities in whole of India as they lack education and treated as just vote bank by the party which ruled nearly first 50 years after independence. The so called "buddi jeevi" of Left orientation who opposed Aadhar Linking to Bank accounts r also in a way responsible for such move.
