Bengaluru, Jun 21: The bus that is turning everyone’s heads in Bengaluru is bus 225C and it is for all the right reasons.
The bus has a dashboard filled with plants which are making the bus stand apart from the rest. Passengers travelling between Majestic and BEML fifth stage are quite keen on boarding the ‘Garden Bus’. The green ambience of the bus has managed to attract a lot of positive reactions.
Conductor Basavaraju Lingaiah and driver Rangaswami are of the opinion that the journey becomes that much more pleasant because of the green environment. “We want passengers to walk in with a smile
and have a happy journey wherever they are headed, an experience unlike any other bus ride” says Rangaswami.
Over 40 different types of plants are placed on the dashboard and the pathway inside. There are palm saplings, snake plants and red ruby. The conductor treats the plants while on breaks at Kempegowda BMTC terminal. In the centre of the dashboard a tulsi is placed and puja of the plant is done every day. The plants are watered four times a day.
The duo spent over Rs 5,000 on the plants, and talk about being considerate towards the environment. They say that plants have not hurt their business rather have managed to get them more passengers.
“It’s only my second time on this bus and I can’t afford to wait for it every day. It is beautiful and puts a smile on my face every time I am in it,” one of 225C passenger said.
The 225C has 20 litre of drinking water for passengers, to quench their thirst. The mobile drinking water is said to be refilled every day.
