Moodbidri, May 12: Alva's Pre University College has created a record of sorts, by posting a result of 98% in the pre-university second year examination held this year. Credit goes to the college authorities for achieving this result in spite of the fact that 1,385 students appeared for the examination from the college, highest in Dakshina Kannada district and also that the institution gives equal importance to sports and cultural activities, unlike many other colleges with far lesser number of students.
Out of 1,385 students who appeared for the second pre university examination, 1,356 have passed. Sunil Rao of the college got 587 marks, just two short of the first rank, and bagged the third rank at the state-level. He has secured highest marks in the district. Ganesh Vishwath Bhat (585), Vinayak S Hegde (584), Harish S Hegde (581) and Vandana M (580) are from among the top 25 students of the state, as far as total marks obtained by them is concerned. Several others have scored over 95% marks.
The institution takes pride in the above result, taking into consideration that it also admits students under quotas like sports, merit, cultural performers and disabled persons and provides them education free of cost.
Chairman of Alva's Education Foundation Dr M Mohan Alva is a happy man, for having produced excellent result, in spite of having large of number of students. He expects the students of the college to come out with flying colours in the combined entrance test too.
