Mangalore, May 7: Captain John Prasad Menezes, chairman, Shipping and Port Relations Sub-committee of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), gave an introductory talk on proposed regular training programmed for the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) qualifying examination at KCCI Exim Felicitation Centre on Wednesday May 6.
 
Talking of the fee structure, syllabus, and the requirements for the examination, Capt Menezes said that the examination itself and success in the examination helps people in shipping and port related industries gain international recognition.

He added that ICS has an international network and this course with its broad spectrum knowledge of shipping helps a businessman in the global network of business.
 
“ICS has been set up to maintain the high standards in shipping. It is a body which has shipbrokers, agents, and ship managers throughout the world. The choosing of the courses and the subject is based on the will of the person on where he wants to work in his own country or abroad”, said Capt Menezes.
 
He said that writing exams was a must and gave explanations about the qualifications, exam structure, and other details about the course.
 
Capt Menezes who is also a fellow in ICS (FICS) said that regular classes for the ICS exams will start from Saturday May 23. He added that the classes will end in January 2010 and the exams will be conducted in April 2010.
