Kundapur, Jun 12: Kundapur additional district and sessions court justice Prakash Khanderi sentenced an accused of attempted murder here to life imprisonment. The incident had happened in the room of labour quarters of stone crusher unit laborers at Surgoli, Belve village, Shankernarayana police station limits on July 10, 2016.
Gadag based worker Yallappa and another worker Rajukumar employed in the crusher had quarrelled over dispute in repayment of loan. As the argument became intense, Rajkumar took a knife from nearby and swung it across Yellappa causing a deadly cut near his neck.
Shankernarayana station police had registered a case of attempted murder and submitted a charge sheet to the court. The sentence was pronounced yesterday, June 10.
As the allegation is proved, Rajkumar was sentenced to life term imprisonment for attempted murder under IPC section 307, two years imprisonment and Rs 10,000 fine under IPC section 326 for causing serious injury. The justice has stated that Yellappa can obtain compensation from legal services authority.
The then Shankernarayana PSI Sunil Kumar had submitted charge sheet to the court. Nearly ten witnesses had testified in the court. Government district public prosecutor B Prakashchandra Shetty had argued in favour of the prosecution.
