Mangalore: Pedestrian Dies after being Hit by Motor Bike

Mangalore, May 4: A pedestrian died on the afternoon of Sunday May 3, after a motor bike hit him, when he was walking along the national highway in Kulai near here.

The deceased has been identified as Nemu Shetty (62) from Kana Janata Colony near Suratkal. He was walking by the side of the road along with his son in Kulai, when a speeding motor bike coming from the direction of the city, hit him from behind, killing him instantly.

Surakal policemen have registered a case.

    Sad incident. Mangalore roads have become more and more dangerous to pedestrians. Two wheelers, three wheelers, four wheelers and every type of vehicles are driving on roads without carrying for speed limits or traffic rules. Footpaths have disaapeared, on whatever is left out either vehicles are parked or have become part of shops. M G Road, K S Rao Road and every other roads have become non walkable. In Hampankatta, in front of busy wenlock hospital autorikshas are allowed to go in wrong direction over supposed footpath. Mangalore has become a hell for pedestrians. Next election has to be fought on footpath issue.
