Mangalore, May 4: “Vishwas”, a Goan Konkani comedy play was staged at St Aloysius High School grounds, here on Saturday May 2 evening. It was organized by Vimukthi Federation, Ujire, under the banner of Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra (CKSK), a voluntary organization, registered under Societies Act, to mark the decennial celebrations of Federation. The comedy play was directed by its playwright, dramatist and Padri, Konkani hit movie star Prince Jacob.
Vishwas, Goan Konkani comedy play dwells on ‘trust’ that’s most essentially needed in married life. The play depicts the life of a seafarer’s wife in her native Goa where she was exploited in many ways by his own friend. The trust bestowed on the seafarer’s friend by himself cost him dearly with his marriage being ruined. The play enlightens the viewers to follow family and moral values, in order to sustain ever lasting marriages in society. Goan music, played during the interval also mesmerized the audience.
Karnataka Capuchin Provincial Fr Vincent Furtado felicitated the playwright and director Prince Jacob at the same occasion.
St Aloysius Education Institution Rector Fr Leo, Fr Cyprian Peter D’Souza, Bejai St Ann’s Friary head and co-ordinator Fr Vinod Mascarenhas were present at the dais.
The play artistes Annie Quadros, Diana, Alice, S Lemos, Joe Rose, Jancinto Gracias, Bernard, Regan, Simon, Jason, ace comedian Humbert and Prince Jacob exhibited their best performance at the show.
The lighting and stage setting was done by John and Joachim and Milton all from Goa, who had arrived especially for the show. Angels Mangalore provided the sound system. Again, Goan musicians Dominic De Arambol, Saby Moraes, Xavier, Cedric and Angelo enthralled the audience with their superb music. It was a good show in any standards and success of it showed by way of a packed audience.
Fr Vinod Mascarenhas welcomed the gathering and also proposed the vote of thanks.
