Udupi, May 4: Raghavendra Acharya (21) from Herady near Brahmavar and Sushma (18) from Bangalore, reportedly in love with each other, chose to end their lives by lying over the railway tracks. The incident occurred at Chande near Herady, the native place of Acharya at around 3 am on Sunday May 3.
A gangman from Barkur railway station found the two bodies lying together on the railway tracks in the wee hours on Sunday. The policemen said, they have recovered two passport size photographs of the couple in the bag Sushma had with her, in addition to a group photograph of Sushma along with her classmates, bearing the address of a high school on Magadi Road Bangalore.
Some local people said, the two were roaming around in the vicinity of the Barkur railway station on the night of Saturday and when enquired, had said they wanted to witness a Yakshagana performance nearby. Raghavendra Acharya worked in a furniture shop in Bangalore and had brought Sushma with him when he visited his home in Herady a couple of days ago. It is said, his family members were against the alliance and had asked him to drop her back at her parents' home.
It is gathered, that a missing complaint had been registered by the parents of the girl at a Bangalore police station. The local people guess, the two were in too much love with each other, and fearing separation, resorted to end their lives together.
A case has been registered at Brahmavar police station in this regard.
