Mangalore, May 3: Dakshina Kannada district has secured fourth place with a pass percentage of 82.02 in the SSLC examination.
Out of the 31,370 students appeared for the examination, 25,729 passed the examination. It includes 2,013 students who took up the exams privately. Of the 15,823 boys, 12,257 have passed and of the 15,542 girl students, 13,472 have passed. As many as 43 schools have secured cent per cent results in the district. Last year, DK district was positioned 10th place with 77.47 per cent pass percentage.
Mangalore City has recorded highest pass per centage of 90.57 followed by Moodbidri 90.41 per cent,
Belthangady 88.66 per cent, Mangalore taluk 88.29 per cent, Sullia 86.18 per cent, Puttur 85.74 per cent and Bantwal 81 per cent.
In Mangalore City, 6 schools have secured cent per cent results. They are: Government PU College, Balmatta; St Ann’s High School, Kuntikana; Nalanda High School, Sarojini Madhusudan Kushe High School, B G S High School and St Joseph School, Kulshekar.
In Mangalore rural, as many as 11 schools have secured cent per cent results. They include: Morarji Desai School, Mulky; Aided Pejawar High School, Kalavaru, Mahalingeshwara High School, Surathkal, Vidayadayini High School, Surathkal, Vishwamangala High School, Konaje, Hidayuth English Medium School, Soorinje; Nithya Sahaya Matha School, Farangipete; Kavery Vidyalaya, Holy Family English medium school, St Raymond High School, Vamanjoor and Mary Well English Medium School, Kinnigoli.
In Moodbidri, St Thomas English Medium School has secured cent per cent results.
In Puttur, six schools have secured cent per cent results. They are: Indraprastha High School, Ramakunja High School, Pragathi English Medium School, Pragathi Kannada Medium School, A R Acharya English Medium School and Jnanodaya Bethany School, Nelyadi.
In Sullia, four schools have secured 100 per cent results. They include: Sathya Sai English Medium School, Chokkadi; Kumaraswamy High School (Subramanya); Jnana Ganga High School (Bellare), and Sneha High School, Sullia.
In Bantwal, eight schools have secured cent per cent results. They are: Deepika High School, Modankapu; Carmel High School, Madakampu; Gurudeva High School, Odiyooru; SVS school, Vidyagiri; SVS Temple School, Thumbe English Medium School, Jaycee English Medium School, Vittal; and Infant Jesus School, Modankapu.
In Belthangady, as many as seven schools have secured cent per cent results. They are: Morarji Desai Residential School, Macchina; Government High School, Meladka; Saraswathi English Medium School, Mundaje; Government High School, Savanalu; Rani English Medium School, Scared Heart School, Madanthyaru; and Mariambika High School.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, SSLC Nodal Officer said that Dakshina Kannada district has no zero per cent result school. However, there are two schools which obtained below 40 per cent results. They are Government High
School, Manjunathanagara, Puttur and Government High School, Biriyoor in Bantwal. “Last year DK district had 12 schools with below 40 per cent results,” he informed.
Compared to last year, the over all percentage of the district is more as well as the district is placed fourth in the State. “We had given instructions to all the schools to improve pass percentage in Mathematics as most of them were found failed in Mathematics last year. Moreover, the department had issued memo seeking explanation from the Headteacher of the school which secured below 40 per cent last year.
Apart from this, there is no scarcity of teachers in the district. All the vacancies are filled this year when compared last year. Most of the english medium schools have secured more than 80 per cent result this year,” he said.
