Margao, Apr 27: Eight Malayalam-speaking dacoits, wearing half pants and face-masks, looted gold ornaments worth Rs 8.5 lac, by breaking in to a bungalow at Kharebandh-Banaulim located just five kilometres from here, in the wee hours on Sunday April 26.
Although the policemen had intensified the screening of vehicles moving on the roads after the incident of dacoity that took place at Vasco on Saturday April 25, in which eight masked persons had looted silver and gold ornaments worth Rs 1.90 lakh from a bungalow, the robbers managed again, to target another bunglow in Banaulim-Salcete region within a day thereafter.
The policemen suspect the involvement of the same gang of dacoits who looted a bunglow at Vasco, in the Banaulim incident.
The policemen informed, that Raina Rodrigues from Banaulim has lodged a complaint in connection with the present robbery. In the complaint, Raina has said, that she had gone to her native place along with her children on the fateful day. In the absence of the occupants of the house, the robbers struck. She also revealed that unfortunately, she had brought home the gold ornaments she had deposited in a bank locker, a day before this incident.
According to security guard of the bunglow, dacoits bound him up and then looted the house. He also explained that the robbers were masked and were wearing half pants.
Colva police are investigating the case. Meanwhile the number of check points has been increased and patrolling has been intensified in the state, in a bid to nab the dacoits.
