Mangaluru, May 31: Vidhushi Sonia Lobo, daughter of late Robert Lobo and Surya Lobo from here, successfully performed a Bharatanatyam recital organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in association with department of Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka.
Since the past 32 years this cultural programme has been well known for promoting young, budding and talented artistes. Artistes refer to the ICCR stage as the most prestigious stage to perform on and consider any chance to perform here as a proud moment in their journey as an artiste.
The programme took place at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Race Course Road, Bengaluru on May 24. Renowned vocalist Rohit Bhat, flutist Nithish, mrudangist Janardhan Rao accompanied the 90 minute recital and at Natuvangam was Roopashri Madhusudhan. The recital began with an invocatory dance followed by Devi Sthuthi, Varnam, Astapadi and Thillanam.
J W Lobo, one of the renowned persons who initiated the ICCR Friday programme in Bengaluru, Venugopal director of ICCR Bengaluru and many other delegates in and around Bengaluru graced the programme with their presence. At the end of it, the delegates cum art lovers present were left spellbound and were nothing short of accolades and appreciation for Vidushi Sonia Lobo’s performance.
Professionally, Sonia is a BE graduate in Electronics & Communications and Masters in International Business and is currently working in a business venture related to events and travel Industry. Artistically she has trained under Guru Prathima Shridha and Shridhara Holla in Bharatanjali School of Dance, Mangaluru since the last 20 years.
With the sky as the limit, Vidushi Sonia Lobo is now aiming to fly higher displaying her artistic talent across the world and is looking forward for global opportunities.
