Kundapur, May 30: Relating to the case pertaining to finding of the body of Sharvya, a student of PU college at Basrur on April 22 this year from a well of a neighbour, the police had registered a case of suicide. It was said that she had hurt herself in her hands with a blade and then jumped into the well. Shravya's brother, Sharath, had stated to the police that his sister was livid at the advice given by her mother and therefore jumped into well. It was also stated in the complaint that the girl suffered from bouts of depression. The post-mortem also had mentioned her death as having been caused due to drowning.
Shravya's mother, Girija, now has accused three young men from Vakwady village of kidnapping her daughter and torturing her. Girija has said that Shravya's death was caused because of this incident.
"Shravya had been abducted on April 15. She had escaped from the rear door when her father was asleep. When calls were made to her mobile, initially she did not receive the calls. I thereafter complained to the police. Later I also spoke to three suspicious persons who were with her over phone. I noticed that she was repeating what they told her to. She asked me to save her but gave names of different places when asked about her location. Accordingly, I searched her in the beach and thickets. She also made calls to her friends. One among those who kidnapped her had come near our house on April 14. I suspect that those who abducted her caused her death," Girija stated.
Girija accused the police of failing to record her statement properly and of obtaining her son's statement instead. She said she again will complain to the police about this.
