Mangalore, Apr 21: The twin-districts have been experiencing cloudy atmosphere during a part of the day, particularly evenings, since some time and the rains that the people had been expectantly looking for to escape from the intensity of the scorching heat, continued to elude them. On Monday April 20 however, several areas in Bantwal and Puttur taluk in the district received rain for about an hour in the afternoon.
Places like B C Road, Puttur, Uppinangady and Nellyadi got the rain. The people of these places got a little respite from the increasing temperatures. However, light drizzle that the other places in the district received in the afternoon of Monday and during the wee hours on Tuesday, contributed to worsen the situation, which is both hot and sultry at present.
Overcast skies in Sullia, Moodbidri, Suratkal, Kateel Kinnigoly and the city surroundings had raised the expectations of heavy rains but it was not to be. Some places of Udupi district got a little rain after midnight on April 19. Karkala got a drizzle on Monday.
