Bantwal, May 23: Prof Subbanna Rai, a native of Vittal, has been appointed by the state government as the registrar of Hampi Kannada University.
Prof Rai had got his initial education in Kasargod district. He had worked in Hampi Kannada University in the past as a research assistant. Later he also had served in the department of Dravidian Culture Study in this university. He has published over 15 research works.
Prof Subbanna Rai has so far worked as guide to 17 research scholars and four M Phil students. His work on the history of Dakshina Kannada district had won Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy award. He was conferred with the doctorate by Mumbai University.
His wife, Dr Saraswathi Kumari, happens to be the head of Kannada department in St Aloysius College, Mangaluru.
