Mangaluru, May 23: Jagannath (24), a resident of Shalepadavu Moodushedde, committed suicide by jumping into nearby Moodushedde dam on Tuesday May 21.
Jagannath had gone missing from his home since Tuesday afternoon. His family members, who went searching, found on Tuesday evening that his scooter was parked near the dam on the banks of Gurpur river. On Wednesday afternoon, his mortal remains were found from the dam.
In the past, Jagannath had been working for a PayTM centre at Kuntikan. Recently he had stopped working and stayed back at home. It is said that the people connected with the PayTM centre used to make him telephonic calls often relating to financial dealings. It is said that one such call was received by him on Tuesday morning too. His family members suspect that this call has something to do with his decision to end life.
On the basis of statements made by family members, Kavoor police have registered a case under section 174 (c) of Indian Penal Code.
Jagannath was the son of Venkatesh Kulal and Jayalaxmi couple from Shalepadavu, Moodushedde. He has left behind his parents and an elder brother.
