Bengaluru, May 23 (IANS): The two grandsons of Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda - Nikhil Kumaraswamy and Prajwal Revanna -- are leading in the prestigious Mandya and Hassan Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka, an official said.
"Nikhil Kumaraswamy is leading in Mandya with 32,306 votes over Independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh, who polled 29,617 votes after the first round of counting so far," a poll official told IANS.
Ambareesh is a south Indian multi-lingua actress.
In Hassan, Prajwal Revanna is leading with 1,96,178 votes over A. Manju of the Bharatiya Janata Party after six rounds of counting.
Nikhil Kumaraswamy is the son of state Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and Prajwal Revanna is the son of Public Works Department Minister H.D. Revanna.
Gowda senior opted to contest from the adjacent Tumkur parliamentary seat, paving way for Prajwal Revanna to contest in his traditional bastion - Hassan.
Mandya is 100km southwest of Bengaluru and Hassan 180km northwest from here.
