Bengaluru, May 22: Former Prime Minister (PM), H D Deve Gowda, said that the 'Mahagathbandhan' of political parties will announce the name of the next Prime Minster once the Lok Sabha results are made public.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister, Chandrababu Naidu, has been running from pillar to post since the last some weeks, as he is determined to form a non-BJP government at the centre. He also came to the city and held discussions with Deve Gowda on this issue. During the discussions, Deve Gowda and Chadrababu Naidu are learnt to have discussed about the possibility of forging a national level alliance as an alternative to NDA and also about the much-touted issue of tampering with electronic voting machines, which has become a hotly debated topic now.
Speaking after meeting Naidu, Deve Gowda said that all the political parties have been complaining about the EVMs since 2009, and the JD(S) too has been writing to the Election Commission about the EVMs. He complained that the commission has failed to take suitable steps to address the complaints. He added that the issue would now be taken up with the President of India through a letter.
When the journalists wanted to know whether the Prime Ministerial candidate the Magathbandhan proposes to prop up is Rahul Gandhi, Naidu just smiled and owned silence. Deve Gowda said that the decision about the Prime Ministerial candidate would be decided after the results are announced. He said that discussions have already been held about the future course of the Mahagathbandhan.
