Beltangady, Apr 17: The policemen from the local police station have succeeded in finding out the culprit who committed theft in two houses, misusing the intimacy she had with the house owners.
On July 2, 2008, gold ornaments worth about a lac of rupees were stolen from the house of Rita Pinto in Venur and she had filed a complaint with the policemen. The policemen had tried to find out the robber but did not succeed.
About a month back, 12 sovereigns of gold ornaments worth more than a lac of rupees were stolen from a house in Ukkuda Alangar within Vittal police station.
The policemen, who followed the leads, interrogated Jyoti Lobo (28), a resident of Venur Gandhi Nagar, a friend of Rita Pinto. She confessed to both these crimes. She had committed theft at Rita's home before marriage, and after getting married to a man from Vittal recently, she stole gold ornaments from the house of her husband's relative. Gold ornaments valued at over Rs 2.5 lac were recovered from her possession.
Circle inspector Gangi Reddy said she would be produced in the court on Friday April 17.
