Mangalore, Apr 17: "The state is becoming increasingly unsafe. Therefore, students from other parts of the country and abroad apart from companies are dithering from coming to Karnataka, particularly Dakshina Kannada district," opined Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha candidate from the Congress Party, B Janardhan Poojary. He was speaking to the media men during his electioneering in Ullal town, Kotekar and Talapady villages within Mangalore assembly constituency limits on Thusday April 16.
Reacting to the allegations leveled against the union government by the state BJP that power projects and Indian Institutes of Technologies are not being sanctioned to the state because of its partisan attitude, Poojary said the state has several institutes of higher education, projects etc., and that the central government has sanctioned educational institutions in states where there is a demand and genuine requirement for them. "When the Congress was in power, companies and dignitaries from abroad on a visit to India used to come to Karnataka first. However, because of the increasing incidents of communal clashes and violent incidents, companies are looking at other options. In particular, Dakshina Kannada has suffered by way of reduced number of students from outside states and countries because of the violent incidents triggered by the outfits supported by the BJP," he charged.
Poojary rebutted the BJP's charge that the Congress Party has done precious little in the last 60 years, by saying that the country has seen industrial, agricultural and educational revolution during the period after independence. The country has grown to such level, that is has been producing and exporting high quality goods," he said.
MLA U T Khader, Congress leaders Kanachur Monu, Ibrahim Kodijal, Sadashiv Ullal etc were present.
