Mangaluru, May 20: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) of Omzoor unit celebrated their finale celebration of the Ruby Jubilee Year on May 19.
The celebration began with a thanksgiving Mass at 8:00 am at Holy Family Church, Omzoor. The main celebrant of the Holy Eucharist Mass was Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza (Bishop Emeritus), and the co-celebrants were Fr Alwyn D’Cunha (Parish Priest), Fr Ronald D'Souza (ICYM Director, Mangaluru diocese), Fr Norbert Lobo and Fr Gerald Lobo. The liturgy and the choir was led by the ICYM members.
After the thanksgiving Mass, the bishop emeritus was felicitated for the service he has rendered to the diocese. The morning celebration concluded with cutting the Ruby Jubilee cake with an ICYM song.
The celebration continued at 6 pm at Holy Family Church grounds. Evening celebration began with an invocation where the ICYM members performed a prayer dance. The president of ICYM, Omzoor unit, Josna D'Souza, welcomed the gathering and then the ICYM members came together for an ICYM theme song. A birds-eye view of past years was presented and thereafter the members performed various cultural programmes.
Msgr Maxim L Noranha (Vicar General, Mangaluru diocese) was the president, Fr Ronald Prakash D'Souza (Director, ICYM - Mangaluru diocese) was the chief guest of the evening programme. Fr Ashwin Cardoza (Assistant director, ICYM – Mangaluru diocese), the office bearers of ICYM diocese were present. Former ICYM presidents of diocese from Omzoor James Lewis and Elroy Saldanha were felicitated. Fr Maxim Noronha, Fr Ronald and Fr Alwyn expressed their regards and joy over the programme. Jonisha Lobo (ICYM secretary, Omzoor unit) presented the vote of thanks. The first half of the programme was hosted by Rohan Saldanha and Violet Fernandes.
In the second half, the well-known drama team of Mangaluru, Kalakul, performed a Konkani comedy drama ‘Paying Guest’. It was written and directed by Arun Raj Rodrigues.
