Kasargod, May 19: Re-polling is in progress on Sunday, May 19 in the three polling booths of the town and three polling booths of Kannur where forgery voting was done. Good turnout of voters was noticed in the initial hours of polling. All the scenes around the polling booths are captured on the CCTV and proof of identity is made compulsory. Voters are allowed to vote only after verifying the details.
Women voters, who are coming for the polls wearing the Burkha are allowed to vote only after they are identified by the women personnel deployed in the respective booths. The polling so far is peaceful.
Verbal arguments ensued between the supporters of Congress and CPM at the polling booth of Pilathar. The situation was brought under control by the intervention of the police.
Re-polling is being held in the town at 48th polling booth of Kuliad GUP school of Kayyur Chimeni gram panchayat which falls under Trikkeripura assembly constituency, 19th polling booth of Pilathar, 69th
polling booth of Pudiyangadi Jamat H S North Block and 70th polling booth of Jamat H S South Block of Kasargod.
For Kannur Lok Sabha constituency re-polling is being held for the 166th polling booth of Pamburuthi Mapilla AUP School of of Taliparamba legislative constituency, 52nd polling booth of Dharmadam legislative constituency and 53rd polling booth of Vengad U P School.
Only employees of revenue department are nominated for the polling duty. In all the polling booth officers of the rank of Tahsildar are discharging their duties as the polling booth in-charge. Video recording facility is provided in all the polling booths.
Huge queues were noticed at the polling booths right from the morning of Sunday. Media is not allowed to do any video recording of the process. Heavy police protection is given at all the polling booths where the re-polling is in progress.
