Mumbai, Apr 15: Cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar said hours of practice and dedication has taken Sachin Tendulkar to the top of the international heap where he has remained for close to two decades.
Declaring that Tendulkar has been the near-perfect batsman India has seen in recent years, Manjrekar said the champion batsman's penchant for putting in dedicated practice and hard work for hours together has enabled him "not just reach the top but also remain there for almost two decades".
"Practice makes a man perfect. For that you have to dedicate yourself to the cause. Good infrastructure no doubt helps to some extent, but the path to success goes via hard work," Manjrekar said to budding cricketers and their parents in sub-urban Mulund before giving the example of Tendulkar to support his views.
The former India middle order batsman also inaugurated the Mulund Indoor Cricket Academy, started by former Mumbai left-arm spinner Ravi Thakkar and pacer Raju Shirke along with Brihanmumbai Kreeda And Lalit Kala Prathishtan.
