Hassan, May 17: Prajwal Revanna, Hassan Lok Sabha constituency's JD(S) candidate and son of state PWD minister, H D Revanna, has been facing the charge of furnishing false information in the affidavit he had filed along with nomination papers. State chief electoral officer, Sanjeev Kumar, said that a letter has been sent to the central election commission seeking their guidance how to go about lodging first information report (FIR) in the case.
Once the nomination of a candidate is announced as having been accepted by the returning officer, only courts can decide if there are any disputes. Therefore, Sanjeev said that the commission is busy working out methodology of filing the FIR.
There are allegations that in one instance, Prajwal has mentioned a property belonging to him as vacant site, but actually a building has been constructed there, which fact was concealed. There are several such objections, and further steps would be taken after detailed examination, Sanjeev Kumar stated.
In response to the controversy, minister, H D Revanna, said that some people have been falsely claiming that Prajwal furnished wrong information in the affidavit. "The election commission had earlier said that nominations once accepted cannot be rejected. I fail to understand on what basis all this confusion is being created," he stated.
