Mangalore, Apr 14: Within a span of two weeks since the murder of Vasudeva Shenoy, a share broker, the policemen have cracked the case and arrested three persons allegedly involved with the murder.
Mahesh (25), resident of Manchana Halli in Hassan district, Surya Kumar T M (32), resident of Somwarpet in Kodagu district and Sahajananda (20) resident of Jamakhandi in Bagalakot district, are the accused arrested in this case.
On March 26, 2009, the trio allegedly murdered B Vasudeva Shenoy in his apartment in Shalini Enclave, Kodialbail in the city.
Dr Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, DK district superintendent of police (SP) said, the accused were in touch with Vasudeva Shenoy and often visited him in his apartment.
Their motive for the murder was to rob money. As they were unable to lay their hands on cash at Shenoy's residence, they took away his golden chain and ring worth Rs 50,000, he explained.
The accused were traced by using science and technology, the SP said, refusing to divulge details about how the accused were nabbed and in addition, chose not to answer questions raised by the media men, claiming that it might hamper further investigations.
Vasudeva Shenoy’s body was found in his bed with his hands tied to his cot. It is believed, the accused killed Shenoy by asphyxiating him by stuffing clothes into his throat. He is believed to have been murdered on March 26 and the murder came to light on the next morning.
Vasudeva Shenoy had settled down in the city since a year, and carried on the business of dealing in shares. He was basically from Badiyadka in Kasaragod. His family is in Chennai.
The SP said, a team led by Barke police station sub-inspector M Jayanth tracked the accused under the directions of senior police officials.
R Dileep, additional superintendent of police and Dharmaiah, deputy superintendent of police were also present at the press meet.
