The event was jointly organized by Dr A V Baliga Charitable Trust Mumbai and Manipal GSB Sevadal.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Justice K N Phaneendra, district and session judge, emphasized that increasing number of laws does not mean that strict legal checks are being enforced in that particular society but that more controls are becoming necessary to control the situation, due to the spreading of lawlessness.
New legal rules emerging in the society clearly reflect multiplying of problems in the society. The profession of a lawyer is considered a social service. This profession is next only to medical profession in importance and nobility, he opined.
None of the sectors is free from any legal bonds. Even when the people are unable to study law systematically, they should strive to have at least minimum legal knowledge. People might choose any profession of their choice but law is an integral part of every profession and it is advantageous to keep abreast of legal knowledge to the extent it concerns their respective professions, he added.
