Bhatkal, Apr 13: Tension prevailed in the town after two citizens, Salman from Mugdam Colony and Asfaque from Chouthany near here gathered a crowd of about 10 to 15 people and challenged Venkatesh Naik from K B Road Chouthany. It is said, the duo was angry over Naik's initiative in questioning them when they were taking two bullocks with them in the morning on Sunday April 12.
Venkatesh, in a complaint filed in the town police station here, said the crowd snatched away a gold chain he was wearing around his neck, besides crushing his motor bike with a boulder. In a counter-complaint, Mohammed Aslam from Mugdam Colony alleged, that Venkatesh, auto driver Pandu and some others had posed him life threat. The policemen have registered both the cases and investigations are on.
After a complaint was filed in the police station about the incident that occurred in the morning, miscreants rushed to a home located behind Sri Kalikamba Temple in Chouthany and burnt down a motor bike parked in front of the house. Thereafter, a bike parked in front of another house in K B Road Chouthany was torched by some trouble mongers. Tension prevailed thereafter in the town for a few hours and eased by evening, as no more incidents were reported thereafter.
