Udupi, May 14: Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte, Kallianpur was celebrated Founders’ Day, Parish Day and Parish Community day here on May 12.
In morning at 8 am mass, Solemnly Eucharistic was concelebrated by former parish priest of the church and presently parish priest of St Peter’s Church, Barkur, Fr Philip Nery Aranaha along with Fr Herald Periera, diocesan 18 Commissions co-ordinator, parish priest Fr Dr Leslie Clifford D’Souza and assistant parish priest Fr Anthony Clany D’Souza.
Fr Herald Pereira in his homily pointed out beautifully on need and advantages of small Christian’s communities in wards and parish.
In the evening, the celebrations of three events, founder’s day, parish day and community day was held at Mount Rosary Church compound from 4.30 pm. The programme began with invocation prayer by church choir team.
Thirteen wards of the parish showed their various talents with song, traditional skits, and so on. In between, parish vice president, secretary, parish ward heads (Gurkars and Gurkarns), various associations’ heads, former vice presidents, and former secretaries of the parish and others were felicitated. Former parish priest Fr Philip Nery Aranha, former headmistress of Mount Rosary Sr Marissa D’Souza SRA and outstanding achiever and former superior of Goretti Convent and social worker Sr Melaniya SRA were felicitated. Fr Philip Nery Aranha spoke on the occasion. Former vice president of parish pastoral council Ligory Aranha and Stany Cornelio and Santhosh Cornelio, coordinator of 18 commissions of the parish also spoke.
In the end, Fr Leslie D’Souza and Fr Clany D’Souza were also felicitated by the parishioners. Both priests of the parish spoke.
Fr Leslie D’Souza inaugurated the documentary short clippings on history and growth of Mount Rosary Church since its existence.
Earlier, Baptist Dais, vice president of parish pastoral council welcomed the gathering and at the end Ronald Saldanha, secretary, delivered vote of thanks. Cynthia D’Silva and others compered the programme.
The celebrations winded up with meal served to all the parishioners. Large numbers of parishioners participated in the grand celebrations.
