Mangalore, Apr 11: It may be recalled that Congress Party Lok Sabha candidate from Dakshina Kannada constituency Janardhan Poojary had, a couple of days ago, said in a press conference at Puttur that he has a word or two in the form of an affectionate advice for the BJP MP and state president D V Sadanand Gowda. While addressing a press conference held here on April 10, Poojary said what he sincerely felt.
Poojary said, he was concerned about the personal remarks passed by D V Sadanand Gowda while speaking in Hassan, about the physical attributes and fitness levels of some Congress leaders like S Bangarappa, Dharam Singh, Jaffer Sharief and Mallikarjun Kharge. "I want to gi ve a couple of advices to Gowda. I do not know as to whether would lend an ear to them or not," he said.
Poojary said to DVS, "I concur with the fact that you are keeping good health as of now. Can you predict that you would be as fit tomorrow or some years later? Think about the time your health was indifferent a couple of years back. You were suffering and had been referred to various hospitals. I was also concerned about your health then. You lost your son in an accident and I too lost a son to cancer. Please remember that our power and position did not help us to save our children. There is no guarantee that we will not lose our health or that our physical form will not undergo changes later in life. Hence, making comments on the physical attributes of a person in a political scenario is neither advisable, nor justifiable. You can show the achievements of your party and lay bare mistakes of the union government. Even if I have committed a mistake, speak out. But, let us desist from ridiculing others about their physical features or health condition, let us not stoop to the level of indulging in cheap politics".
Poojary said in the press conference, that the BJP has falsely made allegations against him, that he had sought votes during his visits to the temples and that he had received a notice seeking explanation on this allegation. "Now I will be seeking a reply from the Election Commission as to whether I am right in reciprocating to a salute from a devotee visiting a temple by bowing to him," he explained.
He condemned the murder of an advocate in the city on Thursday night and urged for putting an end to the culture of gang war, violence and violent behaviour. He also expressed his happiness about the transformation of Muttappa Rai from being an anti-social element to a social worker.
He sought to set the things right, about some media reports which claimed that he had asked Sadanand Gowda to be lodged in a safe deposit locker. He clarified, that this utterance was made by Ivan D'Slouza at a function in Moodbidri and not by him. He said he takes care not to indulge in personal criticisms.
Congress leaders Suresh Ballal, Kallige Taranath Shetty, Ivan D'Souza and Vishwas Kumardas were present at the press conference.
