KURUKSHETRA, Apr 10: In a second incident of its kind in a week, a retired school teacher on Friday hurled his shoe towards Congress MP Naveen Jindal in Kurukshetra "to protest" against Congress' policies but missed his target.
Ram Kumar threw his shoe towards Jindal during an election rally in Kurukshetra constituency, police sources said here.
While throwing the shoe at Jindal, the retired teacher said he is doing so in protest of the policies of the Congress. Police immediately took Kumar in its custody and whisked him out of the rally.
Jindal alleged that Kumar was under the influence of liquor.
Earlier this week, a Sikh journalist had hurled a shoe at Union home minister P Chidambaram at a press conference in New Delhi protesting against the CBI clean chit to Congress candidate Jagdish Tytler in an anti-Sikh riots case. The incident sparked protests from the Sikh community and led to the withdrawal of Tytler and Sajjan Kumar as Congress candidates.
