Mangalore, Apr 9: The street fight between the employees of two buses at the State Bank bus stop here a few days back, has consumed a life. Ashok Gowda (30), bus driver from Beltangady Belal village, who was injured in the fight that took place on Sunday April 5, breathed his last at a private hospital here on Wednesday April 8.
There had been a dispute over the timings of the two city buses which vied with one another to reach the State Bank bus stop right from Kottara in the city on Sunday afternoon. After the buses reached their final destination at State Bank, Ashok Gowda and other staff of 'Ashel' bus had picked up a fight with the other bus staff. However, they faced stiff resistance and got beaten up badly by the employees of the other bus. Ashok Gowda, who was seriously injured in the incident, was admitted to a hospital here, but failed to respond to treatments.
Sujit (36) and Gururaj (35), employees of Ashel bus and Gunakar (36) of Maroli Travels, are undergoing treatment at the hospital. Other accused Harish, Mohan, Satish and Chetan were arrested. They have been remanded to judicial custody. A case was registered at Pandeshwar police station.
