Udupi, Apr 9: Police have seized eight buses belonging to the Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) in Kaup on Wednesday “for violating the model code of conduct”.
The buses were carrying members to the women’s convention of the BJP being held at Kaup in the evening.
Deputy Commissioner P Hemalatha told Deccan Herald that the vehicles did not have permits.
“Permits had been obtained for only three buses. Hence, other eight have been seized. Using vehicles without permits for the election campaigning has been considered as violation of the election code,” she said.
An FIR has been registered in Kaup police station in this regard
