Bangalore, Apr 7: The Congress high command today announced the candidature of sitting member and Union Minister Ambarish in Mandya constituency putting at rest all speculations.
The announcement was made in Delhi this morning after Ambarish expressed his willingness to contest yesterday.
Soon after the announcement, KPCC President R.V. Deshpande called Ambarish and greeted him.
It is said that Ambarish decided to contest as the high command accepted his demands including funding the elections.
Ambairsh has also demanded that former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna and KPCC Working President D.K. Shivakumar should actively participate in the campaign in Mandya.
Sources said Ambarish will file his nomination on Apr. 9, the last day to file papers.
Ambarish visited Chikkarasinakere in Maddur taluk today to offer worship at the temple of his family deity.
