Doha: ICBF celebrates International Labour Day

Doha, May 8: Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) under the Patronage of the Embassy of India in Qatar celebrated the International Labour Day at the Asian Town, Industrial Area, Qatar. ICBF is a philanthropic organization, in service of the Indian community Qatar, presented this event as an offering of awareness and entertainment to a gathering of around 10,000 expatriate workers of various colors of collars, skilled and unskilled, from different sectors of work, speaking numerous languages and hailing from different nationalities.

Excellent educative sessions and presentations were provided by Human Rights department Capt Abdul Latif Hussain Al Ali, Drugs Enforcement department Dr Nadir Abbara, Civil Defense Warrant officer Khaleel Rashid Al Nuaimi, Traffic Awareness department Capt Abdul Wahid Ghareeb Al Anazi, Al Fazaa (Rescue) Police Lt Abdul WahhabMuhammed Al Yami and Warrant officer Nasser Farhan Al Rumaihi and Search and Follow-Up department Lt Muhammed Nasser Khamis Al Jabor. The departments also considered plenty of gifts for the participating audience.



The public event clicked off with the welcome Address by P N Baburajan, president ICBF, who extended his thanks to guests and the public for being a part of this important celebration. ICBF presented the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs, Ministry of Public Health and Ministry of Interior with tokens of gratitude and appreciation for the support extended to ICBF in smoothly serving the community.

The presidential address followed by the public addresses by Chief Guest, H E Mohammed Hassan Al-Obaidly, the Undersecretary of Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs. H E Mohammed Hassan Al-Obaidly expressed his pleasure to work hand-in-hand with ICBF on all fronts for social service relevant to the labour affairs and looked forward to the strengthen the ties even further. He also spoke about the services extended by the Ministry. H E Mohammed Hassan Al-Obaidly received a token of appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the Ministry from S R H Fahmi.

S R H Fahmi, the First Secretary (Labour and Community Welfare, Embassy of India in Qatar) and the Coordinating Officer of ICBF was the Guest of Honour, appreciated the efforts of ICBF and gave a hearty welcome to the Qatari guests and dignitaries who were present.

H E Dr Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin J. Al-Thani, director of Ministry of Public Health also graced the event as a Guestof Honourand he conveyed how ICBF has been doing the best in association with the Ministry of Public Health through various free medical camps and initiatives to build a healthy community. He emphasized on measures by the government towards betterment of all communities equally and wished everyone present a great Ramadan ahead. S R H Fahmi presented a token of appreciation to the Ministry of Public Health, which was received by H E Dr Mohammed Bin Hamad Bin J Al-Thani.

The event was blessed by a magnificent array of esteemed guests from the various departments of major Ministries of the State of Qatar including Interior, Labour and Public Health. The other distinguished dignitaries were Directors of Departments of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs FahadDhafer Al-Dosari, Abdulla Mubarak Al-Dosari, Mohammed AbdulWahid Al-Obaidly, Salem Darwish Al-Mohannadi and Fawaz Al-Riyaz. Esteemed presence of Lt Mubarak Al-Mutalaq, Public Relations Department of Ministry of Interior were also notable. The list of dignitaries also includes Lt. AbdulWahab Al-Yami, from Al-Fazaa and Mohd. NasserrKhamis Al-Jabor, Search and Follow-Up Department. Nihas Abdul Majeed and Anver Ali Parambath coordinated the translating services for their respective departments. Extensive coordination of guests from all Ministries by Faisal AlHudawi was praiseworthy.

The other important guests included the President of ICC, Manikantan, the president of IBPC, Azim Abbas, the ICC advisory committee chaimran K M Varghese, Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awardee, Hassan Chougule, committee members of all Apex bodies, presidents of affiliated organizations and community leaders.

ICBF presented a token of appreciation to generous and hearty contributions of various means by B R Satish, Qatar Design Consortium, Dr Anand Pashupathy, Teyseer Motors, for Al-Muftah Contracting, Pillai, Sunil, Venture Gulf Engineering, Mibu Jose, Castle Construction, Nishad, MD Costal Qatar, PriyaBedi, Indian Women’s Association, Riyaaz Cheeroth, Asian Town, Ibn Ajayan Projects, Sunil Kumar, Petrotec, past treasurer, ICBF and Sameer Moosa, past joint secretary and Dukhan representative, ICBF. Suma Mahesh, TCA handed-over a donation to ICBF and she was presented a token of appreciation for the contribution of the organization. Rajani Moorthy, ICBF MC rendered the vote of thanks. The awards segment was well coordinated by ICBF General Secretary Avinash Gaikwad and ICBF joint secretary Subramanya Hebbagelu. The overall event coordination by vice president Mahesh Gowda and the team spirit by all the other ICBF MC members of the team saw the event to triumph.

Sameer Moosa and Sweta Bharadwaj, were the emcees for the public function and kept the crowd engaged throughout the complete event. The grand musical entertainment by Latif Mahi and team was a crowd rocker. The audience scintillated from their chairs and went on to dance out their hearts. The coordination with the musical team by ICBF MC members Santosh and Senthil on-ground was noteworthy. The light and sound by ever-supporting Symphony team and videography by Mehdoom and team added to the taste of success.
