Mangaluru: LPG cylinder-laden lorry falls into trench, driver injured

Mangaluru, May 6: A gas cylinder-laden lorry lost control and fell into a roadside trench near HP gas godown, Arkana, Pajir village on Monday morning, May 6.

The lorry driver suffered injuries in the accident. As none of the gas cylinders leaked during the mishap that was no loss of life or property.

LPG cylinders were loaded onto the lorry at HP LPG godown belonging to Fayaz near Arkana, Pajir. Driver Khader lost control of the vehicle hitting the godwon compound wall and then falling into a deep trench. A huge tree on the way prevented the lorry from toppling.

Anxiety among locals

None of the gas cylinders leaked during the accident. There would have been a huge catastrophic blast of all the cylinders if there was a leakage. As there are several houses in the vicinity, residents remained anxious since morning.

Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot soon after getting nformation and made sure that there was no leakage of gas. The LPG cylinders were later off loaded and the lorry was lifted up with the help of crane.

Scooter hits fire brigade vehicle, rider critically injured

Two fire service vehicles had arrived to Arkana to the spot of the mishap. A scooter hit one of the vehicles near Ganesh Mahal, Asaigoli. A scooter rider was critically injured. He was admitted to the hospital.
