Mangalore, Apr 1: Nine passengers of the ill-fated bus that jumped into a roadside pit on Monday March 30 near Iruvail, who are being treated in a private hospital here, are recovering.
Ravi (24), Pratibha (16), Madhav (40), Omaiah Poojary (60), Shobha (32), Apoorva (20), Asif (20), Prashanti (19) and Kavita (19) are recovering. Two of them have suffered grave injuries and may take time to fully recover, hospital sources said.
The people, who were admitted into Alva's Health Centre Moodbidri after the said accident as in-patients, too are showing progress. Rashvita, a SSLC student of Hosabettu government high school, who was in the intensive care unit of the hospital, was shifted to the ward on Tuesday. She has sustained injuries to her nose and forehead. Sowmya, whose legs were injured, still has pain in her legs, but there is improvement in her condition. Anni Poojary, Shekhar and Vishwanath, other in-patients too are showing signs of improvement.
On Tuesday, vehicles inspector arrived at Moodbidri to investigate the accident. In the meantime, there have been demands for the streamlining of the irresponsible way in which the private buses are being run, internal understandings of the bus staff, carelessly throwing of tickets at the passengers, time-keeping system etc., towards making the operators more responsive and responsible.
