Bangalore, Apr 1: Through an appeal, the state BJP on Tuesday March 31, asked the Election Commission to immediately transfer Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner for his alleged partisan policies.
A delegation of the party led by party spokesperson V Dhananjay Kumar met state Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) M N Vidyashankar and presented to him the appeal. The delegation urged the CEC to transfer the said DC, in order to be able to conduct the election in a free and fair manner and also to take legal action against the Sullia tahsildar, whose behaviour the party branded as rude.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, Kumar said, it was informed in advance that 500 people would be served vegetarian food at the meeting of party activists held in Sullia. Still, the deputy commissioner interfered in the matter unnecessarily and behaved like an agent of a particular political party, he alleged.
Sullia tahsildar has been trying to get involved with issues with which he should not be having any concern. Asking the party to serve food to only 100 people as against 500 and asking confirmation that those who took part in the programme belong to the BJP are heights of arrogance, he felt.
