Kundapur, Mar 31: Launching a verbal tirade on the BJP, district youth Congress president Prasanna Kumar Shetty accused the BJP of purposefully starting disturbances and flaring up emotions by hurling stones at mosques and churches on the eve of every election, with the specific objective of cornering votes. "The BJP suddenly becomes aware of the existence of Hindus when elections are announced. The party workers create trouble, hold Hindu Samajotsav etc. There is a clear difference between the BJP that wins by playing with the people's sentiments and the Congress, which wants to be with people and for the people," he claimed.
He charged the taluk panchayat member from the party T K Kotian who joined the BJP, of having crossed over merely having been enticed with monetary gains. "He had no problem in the party, not even any misunderstandings. Hence there cannot be any other reason for the defection," he felt.
Prasanna Kumar said that a complaint has been made to the Election Commission against the BJP for serving food at a 'harmonious get together' arranged for government and private doctors at Hotel Jewel Park of Hemmady near here on Saturday night, which was addressed by Lok Sabha candidate from BJP Raghavendra and senior BJP leader A G Kodgi. He said, the Congress is keenly watching the BJP's moves, as it might also resort to distributing liquor in villages just like in Shimoga to get votes.
Byndoor and Vandse youth Congress presidents Sudhakar Shetty and Vijaya Putran were present at the press conference.
