Kasargod: Bogus voting in this constituency - CEO orders criminal cases

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Apr 30: The state chief electoral officer (CEO), Teeka Ram Meena, has ordered the police to register criminal cases against three persons who were found to have been involved with bogus voting in Kasargod Lok Sabha constituency on April 23.

The bogus voting had happened in the polling booth at AUP school, Pilathara. The CEO said that after perusing the webcast footage and explanations offered by polling officers, he has concluded that bogus votes had been polled. He said that CPM Cherupuzha panchayat member, Saleena, former panchayat member, K P Sumayya, and Padmini have cast bogus votes. It is clear that Padmani cast votes twice. Sumayya and Saleena had cast their votes in booth No. 19 instead of 17 and 24. There is also suspicion about another bogus voting in this booth.

CPM had argued that Sumayya and Saleena, its workers, had resorted to open voting but the officer rejected this arguments.
