Mangalore, Mar 31: "BJP state president D V Sadanand Gowda, who himself is an escapist, has been passing unnecessary remarks against the Congress. He should realize the repercussions of sitting in a glass house and throwing stones at others," commented Dakshina Kannada district Congress committee vice-president and spokesperson Kallige Taranath Shetty. He was speaking to pressmen here on Monday March 30.
The BJP state president, who has been indulging in politics that is bereft of any norms or policies, values and principles, has lost the moral right to question the credentials or policies of the Congress, he added. "Gowda's comment that the Congress has accommodated old faces without giving opportunities to the young leaders is misplaced and incorrect. The Congress has given opportunities to young leaders like Prakash Rathod, Salim Ahmed and Tejaswini. Gowda's statement smacks of political bickering and prejudice," Kallige added.
Shetty said, a perusal of the list of candidates released by the BJP makes one doubly sure that the BJP has spit at the sky to its own peril. Most of the candidates fielded by the BJP are the 'reserve players' of the Congress team. Basavaraj being fielded from Tumkur, Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli from Bidar, Yogishwar from Bangalore etc were borrowed by the BJP from the Congress. The party also is hopefully waiting for Congressmen Somanna, Ambarish and Chandre Gowda's entry into its fold and has kept some spots vacant to accommodate them in anticipation. This clearly means that the BJP headed by Yeddyurappa and D V Sadanand Gowda is facing acute dearth of suitable candidates and the party is desperate for people from other parties to fight the election for it." Let him set his own house in order before advising others. Let him follow principles and policies first, before expecting others to do so," he retorted.
