Udupi, Mar 30: Wilfred Vijay D'Sa and Ronald Castelino Shankarpura have said that even after a complaint was filed by them with the Kaup police station about the attack on them by a gang of 22 people in the presence of Shankarpura church priest in church premises, no arrests have so far been made.
"The priest had summoned us in connection with certain statements made by us in connection with a dispute over a road in Shankarpura on Saturday morning, in the presence of leaders of the community. In the guise of holding discussions for a possible compromise, we were beaten up badly," they claimed.
"Even after we sustained injuries and got admitted into the hospital, the policemen did not turn up. We will complain to the higher ups about this inaction of the policemen," they said. Ronald Castelino said, that he along with Wilfred, had been spearheading a public demand for closing a pen of pigs being illegally managed by gram panchayat member Joseph Castelino and that the said gram panchayat member has been instigating these attacks.
Kaup constituency BJP leaders have condemned the assault on their two workers.
