Udupi, Apr 29: Health Commission of Udupi diocese organised ‘Diocesan Health Professionals’ meet-2019’ at Mount Rosary Church hall, Kallianpur, Santhekatte here on Sunday, April 28.
The chief guest of the event, Fr Richard Coelho, director, Father Muller Charitable Institutions, Mangaluru, inaugurated the programme. In his inaugural address, he said, “There are some people working as commission agents for private hospitals. This violates medical ethics while treating patients. Father Muller Hospital is serving patients since many years with quality service. We have been following medical ethics. Patients come to our hospital not only from neighboring districts but also from faraway places in north Karnataka. One must follow certain ethics in service sector. There are lots of difficulties while running a hospital and the administration is always under pressure. Even then, physicians must work in stable mind set and need to tackle things carefully.”
Fr Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of Udupi diocese, “The main vision of Jesus was to serve the poor and depressed class and curing sickness. He dedicated his entire life to serve poor people. The Christian community has that service nature by birth and has contributed more to the service sector. There is a vast role of Christian people in serving the society or treating patients. Let us follow the path of Jesus Christ and adopt his thoughts in our lives.”
Fr Denis D’Sa, parish priest of Our Lady of Health Church, delivered the keynote address on the occasion and presented the vision of the commission.
Resource persons Fr Praveen Leo Lasrado, professor, St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangaluru and Dr Judith Lobo, association dean, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal shared the information based on the topic ‘From Cure to Care- A Paradigm Shift’.
