Mangaluru, Apr 21: 20 cattle which had been tethered for being slaughtered, 20 kg beef, and an auto rickshaw that was being used to transport beef, were seized by a police team led by the assistant commissioner of police along with Ullal police. The raid was conducted at a spot in Kodithota in Ullal on Saturday April 20.
Assistant commissioner of police, Rama Rao, had received information that 20 cows and calves had been tethered in an open area at Kodithota in a violent manner, and that these cattle were not being provided with water and fodder and hence they were suffering. At the sight of the raiding team, Ibrahim, who has been named as accused in the case, escaped from the spot.
The cows so taken into possession were handed over to the care of Govanitashraya shelter for cattle at Pajeeru. A case stands registered against Ibrahim. Ibrahim, it is gathered, already faces several cases including theft of cattle, which have been registered in Ullal police station.
The team led by the assistant commissioner of police was accompanied by Ullal station house officer, Gopikrishna, and other staff.
