Mangalore, Mar 24: 'Taulava Award' is being conferred on veteran dramatist, director and film producer Dr P Sanjeev Dandekeri, taking into account his valuable achievements in the field of Tulu drama, at a function to be held at Town Hall here on Saturday March 28 at 5.30 pm.
The event is being jointly organized by Tulu Drama Artistes Union and Kannada and Cultural department.
Being an Ayurvedic doctor by profession, Dandekeri had directed his first Tulu play, ‘Kalpandi Timme' in the year 1962. Later, he contributed three Kannada and 24 Tulu dramas to the theatre.
Some of his famous plays include 'Bayya Mallige', 'Saraswati', 'Bolli Moodundu', 'Pada Kanike', 'Radha-Krishna' and 'Ganga-Ram' that have been published in the book form.
Apart from the above, he also authored the dialogues, cinematography besides producing and acting in Tulu films like 'Bayya Mallige', 'Bollidota' and 'Kumkuma Sakshi'.
