Panaji: Foreigners Arrested for Assaulting Policemen

Panaji, Mar 23:
Goa police have arrested a German, a Russian and a Swedish tourist for attacking the police team that had reportedly approached them to stop the loud music party in the coastal taluka of Pernem.
 
Superintendent of Police Tony Fernandes said that Scriy Smachev (Russian), Nuhlheilrich Aldysius (German) and Rolf Petergrodin (Swedish) were arrested for attacking the policemen on Saturday March 21  night.
 
The police pesonnel faced an attack from the mob, mostly comprising of foreigners, when they had gone there  to stop the loud music party going on at the beach shack, he said. Police teams were allegedly attacked with bottles and were physically assaulted by the mob, which dispersed only after being caned, the policemen claimed.
 
“They have been arrested for attacking government servants on duty and rioting,” the SP said. Officials stated  they had received complaint about the loud music party going at the shack on Saturday night and had gone to check and stop it.
 
The Policemen have also registered a case  against the local shack owner, who was hosting the party.
