Panaji, Mar 23: A German national, who helped the Interpol in nabbing the Polish hit-man wanted by it in connection with the death of a German at Berlin-Mitte, has now sought police protection, fearing danger from the local politicians.

41-year-old Polish Adam Pyotor Mancic was arrested from the coastal village of Chopdem in Goa’s northernmost Pernem taluka last week, while he was staying with German national Kalenborn Heinz Willi.

Willi, who acted as an important link for the policemen to track the wanted international criminal, is allegedly being harassed by the local Sarpanch and his deputy, pressurizing him to vacate the house occupied by him forthwith.

The German national has filed a complaint with the Pernem police, seeking protection to him and his family.

“They said, if we do not vacate the house and the locality immediately, they will beat me and physically assault me and my family members,” Willi’s complaint mentions. He in addition, said that the Sarpanch and the deputy Sarpanch of Chopdem are accusing him of sheltering the wanted Polish killer.

Mancic had entered Goa in November last year and had shifted residences several times over, before putting up at Willi’s house, which also doubles up as a boat fabrication workshop at Chopdem, about 25 kms from here.

Contemplating that the villagers might attack him, Willi has sought protection for himself and his family. “I also request you to summon the Sarpanch and the deputy Sarpanch and interrogate them in regard to the threats posed to me by them,” he said.

Pernem police said, they have since summoned Chopdem Sarpanch Amol Raul for inquiry.
