Bangalore, Mar 23: The Congress Party has kept the activists of its party guessing over whom it would field from Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituency. The silence of the party has given rise to wild and sometimes, unfounded rumours.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president D K Shivkumar says he was asked by the party high command to enter the fray from this constituency and that he is ready for the same. Tejaswini, who is the current MP representing Kanakapura constituency, is confident that she would be picked by the party.
She is angered by the changing utterances of Shivkumar. In the Congress Party meeting held at Channapatna, Shivkumar had said C K Jaffer Shariff is interested to fight from this constituency. She said, Shivkumar had expressed his disinclination to fight the elections, but later claimed in various forums that either he would contest from here or Jaffer Shariff would be fielded. He had also tried in the past for a ticket for his brother D K Suresh from this constituency. "I am unable to understand why he does so," she says.
Tejaswini claims, the party high command has decided to allot tickets to all the sitting members of parliament and as such, she would be the natural choice. "When I spoke to him, Shariff said he is not interested to fight from this constituency," she clarified and said that confusion is being created by people who make various announcements in this regard for this specific purpose.
