Kadaba, Apr 19: A dead lizard was found in the breakfast plate provided to polling officials in a polling booth at Bilinele in the taluk. The sight of the lizard made two polling officials to begin to suffer from nausea and vomiting, which made them sick.

The officials were discharging duties at the polling booth at Bilinele Lord Gopalakrishna high school on Friday. They had been supplied with breakfast from a local hotel. The polling officials on duty, Jayaprakash Gowda (35), and Rajendra (45) from Bellare, found the lizard in one of the two plates. Both began to vomit and became ill. Both were admitted into the government hospital at Puttur.

The other polling officials said that the above two officials had not consumed the food in which the dead lizard was found. Therefore their health is not adversely affected, they felt. They further confirmed that in spite of having consumed the same food, they had not encountered any symptoms of ill health.

Policeman collapses: A police constable, Srinivas (42), who was posted to the polling booth at Mugeradka School in Kombaru village, collapsed due to low blood pressure. He suffered hard blow on his head. He was admitted into a hospital at Kadaba.

BJP objects

At the polling booth located in Kundaje government lower primary school at Ramakunja village near Kadaba, the official entrusted with the work of applying indelible ink to the fingers of voters was found to be asking the voters to stretch their hands. BJP workers were angered by his repeated mention of 'hand', which is the election symbol of the Congress. After they got angry and objected to the official, he began seeking the 'finger' of the voters instead of hand.
