Panaji, Mar 20: The traditional Goan Shigmo is making waves in the state with the various colourful Shigmo parades across the state.

Shigmo Celebration follows the festival of Holi every year in the state. The Shigmo parade includes Hindu Mythological tableau parade, Romtamell (traditional temple flag procession), traditional Goan folk dance, fancy dress competition and so on.

This year the Shigmo parade in Panaji was graced by the auspicious presence of the noted Bollywood character actor Nana Patekar who later went on to distribute prizes to the winners of the various competitions organised during the Shigmo Parade.

This is how religious festival should be celebrated. They have a combination of colours & the participants make the crowd feel at ease. Religious celebration should radiate peaceful environment & not a battle like situation with Dacoit Mangal Singh like threatening fore-head ‘Tikas’.
